The Event
In this webinar, the second collaboration between 39 Essex Chambers and King's College London-based Complex Life and Death Decisions Research Group, expert speakers will provide an update on, and address three emerging flashpoints in relation to terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill currently before Parliament, namely:
- The case of anorexia - the arguments around the concept of 'terminal anorexia,' and the specific issues anorexia throws up in the context of the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life Bill)
- Categorising the prescription of lethal substances - is this a medical treatment decision or not? And how do conventional rules relation to requesting or refusing medical treatment apply?
- Changing the liability landscape - outlining liability for actions in relation to provision of assistance in dying, and impact of the Bill upon those discharging the State's Article 2 ECHR operational duty to secure life
There will be a time for questions at the end of the webinar.
