The Event

The general election 2024, in the UK, will take place at a time of geopolitical uncertainty, sandwiched between the European and French Parliamentary elections on one side, and the US elections on the other.  Any new government will face intense pressures home and abroad against an ever-shifting global landscape.

Will the new government's agenda stand up to the challenges ahead?

Join our expert panel of industry leaders for a lively discussion on the challenges facing the new government, including domestic and foreign policy, human rights controversies, planning reform, environment, migration and windfall taxation.

Bronwen Maddox – Director and Chief Executive Chatham House, former Director Institute for Government and a former foreign and US editor of The Times.

Baroness Shami Chakrabarti CBE PC – Author of HUMAN RIGHTS (Allen Lane 2024), peer and privy counsellor, former Director of Liberty and Shadow Attorney General.

Richard Harwood OBE KC – Joint Head of Chambers; specialising in planning, environment, public and art law. Former adviser to previous governments on planning matters.

Deok Joo Rhee KC – Leading silk specialising in constitutional, public and EU law.

Catherine Dobson – Specialising in public and environmental law. Member of the Attorney General’s A-Panel of Counsel and Fellow of St Edmund’s College, Cambridge.
