Village Greens and Commons

What Our Barristers Do

Our barristers act in the full range of town or village green (TVG), commons and public right of way (PROW) proceedings, including applications under the Commons Act 2006, the Highways Act 1980 and the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. We are instructed to promote applications, object to applications and act as inspectors in non-statutory proceedings to assist commons registration authorities in the determination of TVG applications.

Who Our Barristers Act For

Our barristers act for landowners, commons registration authorities, highways authorities, local residents and community groups and parish councils. We act for applicants, objectors and as independent expert inspectors in the full range of TVG, commons and PROW proceedings.

Where Our Barristers Act

Our barristers act in public inquiries (both non-statutory and statutory TVG inquiries and Definitive Map Modification Orders (DMMO) inquiries), commons registration proceedings and in the High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court in judicial, statutory review and declaratory proceedings.
