Kate Grange KC Appointed Member of New Senior Treasury Counsel (Civil) Group

39 Essex Chambers’ barrister Kate Grange KC has been appointed as a member of the new Senior Treasury Counsel (Civil) Group.

This group has been created by the Attorney General and will be involved in the strategic management of the government’s civil litigation and most significant cross-cutting legal issues.

She will join Jonathan Crow KC, Marie Demetriou KC, Tim Otty KC, Jason Pobjoy KC and Julia Smyth KC on the group.  Members of the Group will share responsibility with the First Treasury Counsel, Sir James Eadie KC, in co-ordinating and providing strategic direction on the most significant litigation affecting government, shaping the way that the government handles its litigation and consequently, influencing the development of civil law.

Members will also have an important role in providing legal leadership to the Attorney General’s Civil Panel Counsel and supporting the Treasury Solicitor in monitoring and developing the performance of junior panel counsel.
