Environmental Crime and Enforcement

What Our Barristers Do

Our specialist regulatory and criminal barristers provide practical advice and strategic representation at all stages, from pre-emptive compliance advice to initial investigations by the Environment Agency (EA) and other regulators, through to enforcement and prosecution in the criminal courts.

Our expertise encompasses all areas of environmental regulation, including inspections, criminal investigations, voluntary interviews, interviews under caution and prosecution, and orders ancillary to prosecution (confiscation under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 and director disqualification).

Our barristers also advise on Environmental Permitting Regulations, waste offences, hazardous material, contaminated land and illegal discharges to air, land and water, Landfill Tax and the Landfill Communities Fund, statutory nuisance and wildlife and rural offences, including under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.

Who Our Barristers Act For

Our barristers act for a wide range of corporate clients, individuals, local authorities and utility providers. We regularly act for the EA and other regulators in wider environmental law fields.

Where Our Barristers Act

Our barristers act domestically and internationally in all courts and tribunals and at all levels.
