This includes issues relating to governance and funding, special educational needs and disability, disciplinary matters (particularly exclusions and plagiarism), educational negligence, discrimination, judicial review, admissions, grants, and school closures and re-organisations.

Our expertise in education law covers overlapping areas, including professional discipline and regulation, student immigration issues, data protection, research misconduct and staff employment.

We have a practical understanding of the operational needs and political demands to which local authorities and schools are subject. Our barristers are experienced in education, health and social care, which is increasingly valuable in the changing political environment in which services are being integrated.

Several of our barristers have been appointed as governors to schools and university committees, and one of our barristers has been instrumental in establishing a free school.

We act for schools, academies, colleges, universities, local authorities, individuals and parents.

Our barristers appear on behalf of educational establishments, parents, individuals and local authorities in the First-tier Tribunal ((formerly the Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal), the Upper Tribunal and the higher courts.

We also act in appeals to the Independent Adjudicator for Higher Education (OIA).
