Steven is an arbitrator and advocate with more than 25 years’ experience in international dispute resolution and arbitration in Asia. Steven sits as presiding, sole, co-arbitrator and emergency arbitrator.  He also appears as lead counsel in international arbitrations and has appeared as lead counsel in the High Court and Court of Appeal in Singapore.  Prior to practicing as an independent arbitrator and barrister, Steven practiced as a Singapore advocate and solicitor and as an English solicitor advocate with leading Singapore and international firms in Asia.

Steven has extensive experience with disputes involving Asia-Pacific jurisdictions including Singapore, India, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, Nepal, US and Australia.

He has experience with a broad range of commercial disputes covering private equity investments, mergers and acquisitions, sale and acquisition of businesses, joint ventures, share options, agency, licensing, hotel management, coal, mineral, agricultural commodities and trading contracts, oil and gas (sale and transportation of gas, production sharing contracts), energy (power purchase agreements, long term utilities supply contracts), letters of credit, refund guarantees, performance bonds, offshore engineering, ship and rig building, construction (commercial, residential buildings, hotels, EPC contracts, power, petroleum, petrochemical plants, supply of turbines, road, rail, ports and airports, water management projects).

He is a panel arbitrator with the SIAC, HKIAC, ICDR, KCAB, AIAC, THAC and has also sat in ICC, SCMA, LMAA, UNCITRAL Rules and ad hoc cases.  He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators and the Asian Institute of ADR and is a Director of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators Singapore Branch.
