Alex Ruck Keene KC (Hon) appointed as Consultant to the Law Commission’s Disabled Children’s Social Care Project

Chambers is delighted to announce the appointment of Alex Ruck Keene KC (Hon) as a consultant on the Law Commission’s Disabled Children’s Social Care Project

After the Independent Review of Children’s Social Care in 2022 this Law Commission project was recommended with the aim to strengthen and simplify the law, allowing children with disabilities to access the support they need. His appointment follows Alex’s previous work as a consultant to the Law Commission’s Mental Capacity and Deprivation of Liberty Project, as well, more recently, as legal adviser to the independent Review of the Mental Health Act 1983 and special adviser to the Joint Committee on Human Rights for their inquiry into human rights in care settings.

Alex’s experience as a barrister, writer and educator whose practice focused on mental capacity, mental health and healthcare law makes him a valuable consultant to this project which has the potential to support children with disabilities and their families in England.
