Vivek Kapoor Joins Chambers

39 Essex Chambers is delighted to announce that Vivek Kapoor, a dual-qualified advocate, has joined Chambers.

Vivek started his career at the Bar in India, acting for clients in various High Courts and the Supreme Court of India. He has full rights of audience in India. He later moved to private practice and spent a number of years in Singapore and the USA before joining Stephenson Harwood in London.

Vivek's practice focusses on international commercial arbitration and investor-state disputes. He has extensive experience of acting and advising on complex and high value disputes in energy, mining and natural resources, infrastructure and construction sectors.

Vivek was featured in the inaugural Legal 500 International Arbitration Powerlist, which listed 200 of the UK's leading arbitration practitioners working in law firms and at the Bar. He is recognised in legal directories as a "Rising Star" for International Arbitration, and has consistently been ranked for International Arbitration and Public International Law.

The recruitment highlights Chambers' continued commitment to its international client base and strengthening its international arbitration practice. Vivek joins the growing rank of dual-qualified advocates at Chambers.

Lindsay Scott, Chief Executive of 39 Essex Chambers, said: "We are absolutely delighted that Vivek has joined us. His commercial and international arbitration experience is an excellent fit for Chambers. He also already has a substantive international practice, particularly in India and south-east Asia.  Vivek has extensive expertise in the region and with our offices in Singapore and Malaysia his experience will be of great benefit, further strengthening our access between Singapore and India and enhancing our offering for clients both domestically and internationally."

Vivek said: "I am thrilled to have joined 39 Essex Chambers. Chambers is internationally renowned for its high quality and strength in international arbitration and commercial, energy and construction disputes. I am excited to be working with such immensely talented practitioners at Chambers. I am incredibly grateful for the continued support of my clients and colleagues."

Vivek will be mainly based in Chambers' London office.
