Opening of the Infected Blood Inquiry

The Infected Blood Inquiry, described as the "worst treatment disaster in the history of the NHS", opened on 24 September with three days of preliminary hearings.   Jenni Richards QC, as Counsel to the Inquiry, gave an opening statement, outlining the Inquiry's work to date and its anticipated lines of investigation.    Katie Scott and Annabel Lee are both part of the Inquiry's counsel team.   The Inquiry intends to sit again from late April 2019 to begin to hear oral evidence.
