Juan Lopez Joins Chambers

We are delighted to announce that Juan Lopez has joined Chambers, with immediate effect.

Juan joins from Francis Taylor Building with a highly established planning, commercial and public law practice.

Juan acts in all areas of major infrastructure (specialising in energy and transportation), planning, construction, environmental law, compulsory purchase, land valuation and compensation, highways, rights of way, agriculture and related civil liability. He regularly works with infrastructure bodies, developers, landowners, surveyors, utilities as well as local authorities. He combines these areas with his experience in related property fields as well as less frequented areas such as railway law, water law and environmental taxation. Juan also has extensive public law experience in related judicial review claims and statutory challenges.

He is noted in the leading legal directories for his expertise, with Chambers & Partners stating "He is a tenacious advocate who really fights his corner" and The Legal 500 noting him as "very knowledgeable, concise, proactive and user friendly." Juan has also been listed for many years as one of the top planning juniors in Planning Magazine's annual survey.

Lindsay Scott, Chief Executive of 39 Essex Chambers, says "We are thrilled to welcome Juan. His exceptional experience is a perfect fit for 39 Essex Chambers and Juan will be an excellent addition to our existing team, as well as furthering Chambers' standout ability to offer our clients a full, cross-practice area service."

Juan Lopez adds "I am extremely pleased to be joining 39 Essex Chambers. The set's excellence is well known to me from my work, I know a number of my new colleagues well and I'm excited to now work alongside them and continue my practice from there."
