Inspector Grants Permission For Dignity's Huntingdon Crematorium With Full Award Of Costs

Inspector Clare Searson has today granted planning permission for a new crematorium, car parking, memorial gardens, access and landscaping at Land North of Wyton Piggery Cottage, Sawtry Way, Kings Ripton. She also awarded Dignity its full costs in relation to the appeal.

In relation to the main matters, the Inspector found that the proposal would not cause any harm to the rural character and appearance of the area as the development would be effectively and successfully integrated into the landscape and that there would be no overall harm in terms of sustainable travel and accessibility.

In her costs decision the Inspector found that the Council's case was based upon vague and generalised assertions in relation to both main issues and that its decision was not fully evidenced and justified. Overall she found that the Council 'unreasonably prevented development which should clearly have been permitted…'
