Rt. Hon. Sir Gary Hickinbottom has been appointed to chair a JUSTICE Working Party

Chambers is delighted to announce that The Rt. Hon. Sir Gary Hickinbottom has been appointed to chair a JUSTICE Working Party on the outsourcing of government assessment/decision-making.

The Working Party will sit for 12 months and is one of the first comprehensive legal reviews into outsourced decision-making and assessments in the UK. The final report will make practical recommendations for how the rights of individuals can be better protected when local and national governments outsource.

The Working Party will consider the power to outsource, the tendering stage, drafting and enforcing a contract and how to improve transparency and accountability. They will look to publish their report in around a years’ time.

Gary will continue to practice in Chambers alongside this role.
