Joint COMBAR / Chancery Bar Association Response to Law Commission Consultation on Digital Assets

Grace Cheng was a member of a joint working group from the Commercial Bar Association (COMBAR) and the Chancery Bar Association that responded to the Law Commission’s consultation on digital assets.

The Law Commission was asked by the UK Government to make recommendations for reform to ensure that the law is capable of accommodating both crypto-tokens and other digital assets in a way which allows such technology to flourish. In its final report, the Law Commission concluded that the common law system in England and Wales is well placed to provide a coherent and globally relevant regime for existing and new types of digital assets.
