39 Essex Chambers remains open for business

39 Essex Chambers continues to monitor closely the situation and is following all relevant government advice to ensure that we are ready to adapt to the latest guidance.  Our priority is the health and well-being of all our clients, members of Chambers, staff and their families.

We wish to assure you that during this time, we have activated our comprehensive business continuity plan.  In light of the current situation the vast majority of both members of Chambers and staff are now working remotely from home, with skeleton staff remaining on site in our London office. We remain fully operational and able to support clients on all of their matters and do not anticipate any significant disruption to providing a full service for our clients.

Similar to many organisations, we have restricted international business travel to journeys that are deemed to be imperative. For meetings that can now not take place in person, we are encouraging call and video conferencing instead.

To assist you with contacting us please:

  • Communicate with members of Chambers by email – please open members' V-Cards if you wish to use their direct dial
  • Communicate with clerks and staff by email or direct dial numbers – our clerking team's direct contact details (email, telephone and mobile) can be found here and staff details here.
  • Send all instructions and documents electronically. Where hard copies have to be sent to Chambers, please liaise in advance with the relevant clerk and member to arrange delivery directly to the barrister concerned.

If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact our Chief Executive Lindsay Scott , or your usual contact in the clerking team. We thank you for your continued support and wish you all well during these unprecedented times.

All the best and stay healthy from the Members, Clerks and Staff at 39 Essex Chambers
