This session will discuss key questions about handling appeals in the regulatory and disciplinary context. The seminar will consider:

  • The powers to appeal tribunal decisions: are the present powers sufficient to protect the profession and the public?
  • Due deference and the standard of review: what does it mean and how does it work?
  • Inadequacy of charging: hints and tips
  • Criticising the previous legal team: dealing with the ethical and legal issues that arise
