The Infected Blood Inquiry concluded a further week of hearings on Friday 28 February. The Inquiry heard evidence from experts addressing respectively: (i) the psychosocial impacts, (ii) HIV, (iii) hepatitis and (iv) blood and bleeding disorders. The Inquiry also heard from three trained professionals who acted as intermediaries to provide evidence of a number of experiences of people who were infected or affected by contaminated blood, without revealing their identities. Hearings will resume in June.
Jenni Richards QC, Katie Scott, and Annabel Lee are instructed on behalf of the Inquiry; Eleanor Grey QC acts on behalf of the Department of Health; and Charlie Cory-Wright QC and Gethin Thomas act on behalf of NHS Blood and Transplant.
