Swindon Road Compulsory Purchase Order Confirmed

The compulsory purchase order for Swindon's southern connector road has been confirmed by a planning inspector following a public inquiry in January. The road will link the A419 to the 12,000 homes New Eastern Villages developments. Richard Harwood QC appeared for Swindon Borough Council, the acquiring authority, at the CPO inquiry. He has acted for Swindon in various other cases on the New Eastern Villages: the Lotmead planning inquiry and litigation over planning conditions and the creation of highways: Swindon Borough Council v Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government [2019] EWHC 1677 (Admin).
