Highly regarded barrister Saima Hanif has joined 39 Essex Chambers, it was announced today.
Saima has a thriving commercial regulatory practice covering financial services, commercial, public and employment law and is recommended by Chambers UK for Financial Services and Professional Discipline.
With key expertise in financial services work, she has previously undertaken secondments at the Bank of England, Clifford Chance, the former FSA and the General Counsel’s Division of the FCA, enhancing her experience and giving her a unique insight into this area of law. Saima’s arrival at 39 Essex Chambers will further enhance chambers’ growing financial services team which already boasts renowned practitioners such as Hodge Malek QC, David Mayhew, Jenni Richards QC, James Strachan QC and Fenella Morris QC.
Amongst her other work, she is currently instructed by the former CEO of Keydata in the extremely high profile FAC investigation, for which there was a successful judicial review in 2012. She is being led in this case by Hodge Malek QC.
Saima joins 39 Essex Chambers from Monckton Chambers and spent 9 years as a tenant at 4 – 5 Gray’s Inn Square.
Saima is the third new member to join chambers in the last month, with renowned international barristers John Judge and Rashda Rana taking up membership in September. The new tenants further highlight the continued expansion of 39 Essex Chambers, now the largest civil set of chambers in London.
