Renowned barrister Richard Spearman QC has joined 39 Essex Chambers, from 4-5 Gray’s Inn Square, practising from Chambers as of today, 18th February 2013.
A former Head of Chambers at 4-5 Gray’s Inn, Richard is widely recognised as a leading commercial barrister. Described by Chambers UK 2013 as “one of the greats” he is particularly acclaimed for his work in the privacy law arena, where he regularly receives instructions in prominent cases, acting on behalf of national media defendants and high-profile individuals. His extensive practice includes commercial fraud, media and entertainment, sports law, insurance and reinsurance, sale of goods, restraint of trade and professional negligence.
Richard’s arrival at 39 Essex Chambers further highlights the dynamic growth of Chambers. Twenty four of his colleagues from 4-5 Gray’s Inn joined the set in December and the number of barristers now stands at 118 with 38 QCs. With expertise in public and administrative law, environmental and planning law, commercial and regulatory law, as well as other areas, 39 Essex Chambers is one of the UK’s largest multi-disciplinary sets.
