Anna holds a double first-class degree from the University of Cambridge where she won multiple academic awards including the Trinity Gould Exam Prize and a full academic scholarship to complete her masters degree. Anna went on to be awarded Inner Temple scholarships for the GDL and bar course.
Prior to pupillage, Anna worked as a caseworker at a public law firm, as well as in various legal roles as a writer and researcher.

In her commercial and construction seat, Anna was supervised by David Sawtell and David Hopkins. Her experiences included:
- Advising in an international commercial contract matter involving contract enforceability, fraudulent misrepresentation and unjust enrichment.
- Drafting a defence for multiple defendants in a complex misrepresentation matter involving a company loan agreement.
- Drafting a defence to an indemnity claim against a guarantor involving material variation to the terms of a guarantee.
- Settling particulars of claim for damages and an injunction in a property matter involving continuing nuisance.
- Advising on an application for a remediation order under the Building Safety Act 2022.
- Advising in an adjudication enforcement challenge.
- Drafting a defence in a matter arising under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000.
- Researching in a disciplinary matter involving a challenge to interventions in solicitors’ practices.
Administrative and Public
During her public law seat, Anna was supervised by Colin Thomann KC, Steve Broach KC, Rachel Sullivan and Nicola Kohn and was involved in a wide range of public law and Court of Protection matters. Her experience included assisting with:
- Drafting submissions to the Court of Appeal to challenge a local authority’s decision to close public mental health services.
- Advising on the potential for legal challenge to a Bill relating to children.
- Drafting grounds of objection to the Supreme Court in an appeal under Article 8 ECHR concerning a refusal of entry clearance to the UK.
- Research in a Court of Appeal matter concerning the court’s jurisdiction to grant anonymity orders and reporting restriction orders.
- Drafting grounds of judicial review in a community care challenge arising under the Care Act 2014 and Article 8 ECHR.
- Drafting submissions in a judicial review concerning the transfer of a prisoner to open conditions.
- Drafting grounds of challenge in Section 21A MCA 2005 proceedings in the Court of Protection.
Prior to pupillage, Anna worked as a caseworker in a public law firm where she specialised in education matters in the Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal as well as community care and discrimination judicial reviews.
Planning and Environment
During her planning and environment seat, Anna was supervised by Ned Helme and Daniel Stedman Jones. Her experiences included:
- Advising on liability for historic contamination of land.
- Advising on the application of the Sequential Test for flood risk.
- Advising on compulsory purchase powers under the Local Government Act 1976 and the Town and Country Planning Act 1990.
- Advising on an application to register an apportionment of grazing rights on common land.
- Advising on strategy to amend hybrid planning permission considering the judgments made in Pilkington v Secretary of State for the Environment [1973] 1 WLR 1527 and Hillside Parks v Snowdonia National Park Authority [2022] UKSC 30.
- Advising on material change of use of land in a challenge to an Enforcement Notice.
- Advising on discharge of a planning obligation under Section 106A of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990.
- Drafting grounds of challenge in respect of a Community Infrasturcture Levy charge under the 2010 Regulations.
- Advice on the scope of power under Section 8 of the Dangerous Wild Animals Act 1976.
Civil Liability
During her civil liability seat, Anna was supervised by Emma Corkill and Daniel Laking. Her experiences spanned personal injury, clinical negligence, veterinary negligence and costs, including:
- Advising on the scope of duty of care in a complex obstetric negligence matter.
- Advising in an industrial disease claim concerning primary and secondary exposure to toxic substances.
- Settling quantum advice and a counter schedule of loss in a high value clinical negligence claim.
- Advising on causation in a clinical negligence claim involving multiple possible causes of injury.
- Drafting a defence in a clinical negligence matter arising out of allegedly negligent surgery and subsequent treatment.
- Preparing draft cross-examination in a veterinary negligence trial.
- Drafting particulars of claim and advice in a personal injury claim involving a child.
- Advising on interim payments on account of costs in an ongoing clinical negligence matter and Part 36.
