Marion Smith QC, Karen Gough, Ben Olbourne, Loretta Malintoppi and Paul Hayes have spoken at the Kuala Lumpur International Arbitration Week (KLIAW) 2017.
Marion and Loretta were part of a panal speaking on “Reconciling Arbitral Regimes along the Silk Route” where they shared their views on practical problems, challenges and implementation issues that will arise within the OBOR framework.
Karen was on a panel discussing “Breaking down the OBOR: What lies ahead for ADR” which saw International arbitration practitioners, stakeholders and experts sharing their views on the impact of the famous “One Belt One Road” initiative on the dispute resolution market
Ben took part in a plenary session on “Enforcement of awards: The real definition of success in an arbitration“.
Paul’s session was named ‘The China Syndrome: Rethinking arbitration on the ‘One Belt, One Road’ and was part of session one which consisted of an interactive panel discussion that saw International arbitration practitioners, stakeholders and experts sharing their views on the impact of the famous “One Belt One Road” initiative on the dispute resolution market.
The session focused on economic and legal developments, enhancing legal protections for investments and international projects: harmonization of arbitration laws in OBOR countries, collective efforts taken towards ensuring a uniform and consistent mechanism for the enforcement of awards etc.
