New Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England) Order 2015

CategoryArticles Author Richard Harwood OBE QC Date

The new Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England) Order 2015 replaces the 1995 Order from 15th April 2015. There are a number of substantive and procedural changes, as well as considerable reordering of the Parts, which have reduced from 43 to 19.

Richard Harwood QC has prepared  a note summarising the changes  and comparing the 1995 and 2015 Orders.  The Order itself is available here.  A useful explanatory memorandum has been published here.

In addition, a Written Ministerial Statement deals with significant policy areas and the new relationship between planning consent and the Building Regulations on housing standards – these latter changes are of immense practical importance.

Richard’s note on the new Development Management Procedure Order 2015, comparing the provisions with the 2010 Order, is available here.
