Member of Airport Commission steps down due to pressure from Chambers

CategoryNews Author Paul Stinchcombe QC, Ned Helme Date

Geoff Muirhead has resigned from his role on the Airports Commission after pressure from the campaign group Stop Stansted Expansion.

Paul Stinchcombe QC and Ned Helme have been advising Stop Stansted Expansion, who last month served notice on the Secretary of State for Transport threatening to take legal action if Mr Muirhead did not resign from the Airport Commission.

Stop Stansted Expansion had been calling for Mr Muirhead to step down as the Manchester Airports Group had recently purchased Stansted Airport, and as such there was a possible conflict of interest.
