Marion Smith QC is to speak at the IWIRC & Singapore Arbitration Women: Insolvency & Arbitration Seminar, which will be held at the offices of Simmons & Simmons, Singapore on Wednesday 13th September 2017.

Marion will speak on "The effects of party impecuniosity on arbitration" which will consider (1) the binding nature of contracts versus the right of access to justice, (2) how courts approach this issue, including a review of the different regimes, (3) what methods are employed by arbitral institutions, from ICC to SIAC, and (4) whether or not the solvent party is powerless in this situation, what coverage in respect of fees they may have, the role of security for costs and a review of the different possibilities that may be available.
