In this seminar, which will be held on the 8th October 2015, Ben Olbourne will be part of a prominent panel who will each provide their unique perspectives on the factors to look out for in deciding on an appropriate dispute resolution option.
The seminar will also look at businesses who have for a long time been advised that arbitration represents the best option for regional dispute resolution, primarily because of the uncertainties surrounding regional litigation and the ease of cross-border enforcement. Leveraging on this, both Malaysia and Singapore have built enviable reputations as leading venues for international arbitration. More recently however, a renewed emphasis on international commercial litigation and the focus on mediation as a complement to arbitration having brought new options to the table . Meanwhile, investment treaty arbitration presents a further but increasingly controversial alternative. The question facing international businesses today is therefore whether these developments represent viable choices for effective resolution of international disputes, or if they have limited relevance in practice.
