John Pugh-Smith gives evidence to the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Alternative Dispute Resolution at its session "Land-use assembly, planning, compensation and ADR: lessons learned and next steps"

The APPG for ADR  held its first remote session on Monday, 4th May 2020 on-line to explore how ADR methods can be used to improve fairness, efficiency and outcomes in the UK planning system. Drawing on lessons from Scotland and the other UK jurisdictions the APPG members heard  from experts in the field on what governments at both a local and national level can do to better integrate ADR within the planning and compensation processes. As well as John, who also acts as a special adviser to the APPG,  other panellists included David Baker (Partner, Baker Rose Consulting), David Holland (Partner, Squire Patton Boggs) and Graham Boyack (Director, Scottish Mediation). The session was chaired by John Howell MP. To view the footage and slides please click here.
