Dr Robert Stone, who worked at Hellesdon Medical Practice in Norwich, admitted having a two and a half year sexual relationship with the woman who he admitted he knew was depressed and potentially suicidal.
He had been suspended last year for 12 months by the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service. However the GMC challenged the decision, insisting that Dr Stone be struck off.
Mr Justice Jay found in favour of the GMC, ruling that the the tribunal’s decision not to strike him off “failed adequately protect the public.”
