On Friday 2nd July in the Royal Courts of Justice, Darren Dommett, 49, from Grimsby, was sentenced to 29 weeks imprisonment for contempt of court by HHJ Lickley QC. The contempt arose out of a grossly exaggerated claim for the effects of delay in treatment of cauda equina syndrome. Dommett had claimed more than £1.5M in damages in a claim against Northern Lincolnshire & Goole NHS Trust before his fraud was uncovered by surveillance evidence.
