Great Wolf Lodge Resort Bicester

James Strachan QC acted for Great Wolf Resorts in securing planning permission on appeal for Great Wolf's first Lodge and Waterpark in the United Kingdom. The resort consists of a waterpark, family entertainment centre, 498 bedroom hotel, conferencing facilities and restaurants and involves the redevelopment of part of an existing golf course. It would provide a major new tourist destination of widespread appeal for the area. The planning application was refused by Cherwell District Council who, with an alliance of 36 Parish Council's opposed Great Wolf's appeal. However the appeal was allowed by Planning Inspector George Baird BA(Hons) MRTPI by decision dated 11 May 2021, following a three week virtual inquiry held in February and March this year.
