Garden Bridge Challenge

This week Lambeth residents sent a pre-action letter to Lambeth Borough Council challenging its decision to vary the terms of its lease with Coin Street Community Builders in order to enable the Garden Bridge to be built.

In the process, the residents allege that the destruction of the open space on part of London's South Bank has not been properly considered and the decision has been rushed through for improper commercial reasons. In particular, the Garden Bridge proposals involve the creation of a privately owned and permissive bridge, which is an inadequate basis upon which to destroy part of the Queen's Walk and park on the South Bank.

Daniel Stedman Jones is acting on behalf of the residents.
