Four members of Chambers appear in Luton Airport Inquiry

The Inquiry into a section 73 application by London Luton Airport Operations Limited ('LLAOL') starts today. The application is for variations to a number of the conditions governing operations at Luton Airport, including an increase in the number of passengers which the Airport is able to accept per annum.

The application was called in by the Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities on 6 April 2022. The former Secretary of State for Transport has since exercised his powers under the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 to determine the application jointly.

The Inquiry is due to close on 17 November 2022.

LLAOL is represented by James Strachan KC and Victoria Hutton. Luton Borough Council is represented by John Steel KC and Richard Wald KC represents a rule 6 party (Luton and District Association for the Control of Aircraft Noise ('LADACAN').
