Former Presiding Judge for Wales, Sir Wyn Williams, rejoins 39 Essex Chambers

39 Essex Chambers is pleased to announce that, following his retirement as a High Court Judge, Sir Wyn Williams is to re-join the set as a door tenant.

Prior to his judicial career, Sir Wyn was called to the Bar in 1974 and appointed silk in 1992. He practised at 39 Essex Chambers from 1998. As a silk, Sir Wyn was instructed primarily in personal injury, clinical negligence and public law and also developed a particular expertise in sporting disputes. A decade ago, Sir Wyn was appointed to the High Court and was immediately authorised to sit in the Administrative Court. Furthermore, between January 2012 and December 2015, he was a presiding Judge for Wales becoming the Senior Presiding Judge in January 2014.During his time on the Bench Sir Wyn was appointed Chairman of the Wales Committee of the Judicial College and the Deputy Chairman of the Boundary Commission for Wales. Although Sir Wyn has retired as a full time Judge he remains authorised to sit as a deputy High Court Judge.

On his return to Chambers, Sir Wyn will be accepting appointments as arbitrator and mediator for both domestic and international disputes. The appointment is effective from Monday, 13 February.
