Misuse of Private Information
What our barristers do
We act in all areas of privacy law, whether concerning breach of confidence, Articles 8 and 10 or the tort of misuse of private information. In the private law sphere our barristers advise and act in applications for interim injunctions and substantive privacy claims (often overlapping with data protection and defamation matters). In the public law sphere we act in all aspects of human rights law including challenges concerning Article 8.
Our barristers advise and act in cases to do with court reporting, derogations from open justice and contempt of court.
Who our barristers act for
We act for private individuals, corporate bodies, journalists and media organisations, MPs, political parties, charities, free speech organisations, NGOs central and devolved government departments, local authorities, law enforcement agencies, NHS trusts, education authorities, professional regulatory bodies as well as professional and amateur sports bodies.
Where our barristers act
We appear in the High Court (Media & Communications List and Administrative Court), Court of Appeal and Supreme Court. Our barristers also appear in public inquiries. In terms of court reporting and open justice, our barristers appear before all courts and tribunals.
