Freedom of Information (FOI) and Environmental Information Regulations (EIR)

What our barristers do

We advise and act in all matters concerning the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and the Environmental Information Regulations 2004. There is a substantial overlap between our information rights practice and our wider data protection and public law work.

Who our barristers act for

We act for private individuals and public authorities. Much of our work on behalf of public authorities is for central and local government bodies, law enforcement agencies as well as education and healthcare providers.

Where our barristers act

In respect of appeals against decisions of the Information Commissioner our barristers appear in the First-tier Tribunal and Upper Tribunal of the General Regulatory Chamber. In public law matters we appear in the Administrative Court and in appellate matters, before the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court. Our barristers also appear in public inquiries.
