Local Government
What our barristers do
We advise on all areas of local government law, from local authority powers and duties, procurement and public funding to education, freedom of information and health and social services disputes.
Other areas of local government law in which we act include adult social services, care home funding and closures, children’s services, safeguarding, mental health and capacity, and the Court of Protection.
We have specialist expertise in local government legal services framework agreements, with our barristers advising more than 80 local authorities across the UK.
Several of our barristers have worked in local government (including, as London borough councillors) or for other public bodies, giving them an understanding of the needs of local authorities and an insight into their culture and decision-making processes.
Who our barristers act for
We act for local authorities, the local government ombudsman, businesses that deal with local authorities, care homes and individuals.
Where our barristers act
In addition to offering specialist legal advice on local government law, our barristers appear in all UK courts and tribunals, in arbitration and mediation hearings, and in inquiries, disciplinary hearings and ombudsman challenges.
