Join the in person roundtable with Bernard Doherty and Philippe Kuhn for a round-up of recent developments in cross-border personal injury litigation.

The most widespread concern of practitioners following Brexit has been a lack of certainty, particularly in the fields of jurisdiction and enforcement. Have recent developments led to greater clarity? In this seminar, Bernard and Philippe will consider the following topics:

  1. The discretionary forum conveniens jurisdiction
  2. Current issues and developments regarding enforcement of English judgments abroad and of foreign judgments in England
  3. The Hague Convention on Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Judgments which has recently entered into force in both the UK and the EU
  4. Choice of law issues, including Nicholls v Mapfre Espana Compania de Seguros y Reaseguros SA [2024] EWCA Civ 718 and Lunn v Antarctic Logistics Centre [2024] EWHC 1662 (KB)
