David Sawtell gives paper on causation on construction law to the Society of Construction Law

On 8 June 2021, David Sawtell gave his paper, 'Causation in Construction Law: Time for a re-statement?' on 8 June 2021.

David set out to re-state how causation affects construction law, not only in respect of delay and money claims under the contract, but also for damages for breach of contract. He identified that there are a number of key principles in operation in construction law: some of these are part of contract law more generally, but there are a number of rules which are specific to construction claims.
