81 Chancery Lane
Chaired by: Peter Hurst LLB MPhil FCIArb
Speaker: Master Colum Leonard
Colum Leonard has been a Costs Judge at the Senior Courts Costs Office since October 2010. He is a member of the Hutton Committee, tasked with the introduction of the electronic bill of costs now incorporated in the Civil Procedure Rules as Precedent S, and a contributing editor to Butterworths Costs Service. Before appointment he was for 20 years a partner in London Litigation-only firm Stewarts, specialising in professional negligence, costs and commercial litigation. He has been a Deputy District Judge for sixteen years and an RPTS Tribunal Chairman (now Tribunal Judge in the Property Chamber) for twelve years.
Master Leonard will explain the thinking behind Precedent S, and related topics. He will project an actual spreadsheet, on to screens so that the audience may see the spreadsheet recalculating itself as he makes adjustments. There will also be a Q&A session following the talk.
