Chambers Welcomes Three New Tenants

We are delighted to announce that Simon Murray, Rachel Troup and David Sawtell have joined 39 Essex Chambers with immediate effect. The new tenants' combined expertise spans the spectrum of Chambers' wide-ranging practice areas:

Simon Murray

Simon specialises in all areas of public law and human rights work and related actions against public bodies. He has particular expertise of judicial review, as well as practising more generally in the fields of professional negligence, data protection, employment and other common law matters. He has substantial experience in high-value injury claims and group litigation and was one of the counsel for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in the long running Kenyan Emergency Group Litigation. He is appointed to the Attorney General's A Panel of Counsel.

Rachel Troup

Rachel has a multi-disciplinary litigation practice with particular specialisms in public law, investigations, regulatory and disciplinary matters, corporate offences, inquiries and inquests. She is ideally positioned to advise and to act in any matters where criminal sanctions may be in play. Rachel is currently instructed as counsel to the Grenfell Tower Inquiry.

David Sawtell

David specialises in substantial construction and property disputes, as well as commercial dispute resolution. He is frequently instructed in cases involving the development and use of land, buildings and property, as well as matters involving serious commercial, insolvency and company law issues. His work frequently has an international edge, involving cross border and overseas transactions and disputes.

Chief Executive and Director of Clerking, Lindsay Scott, says "We are delighted to welcome Simon, Rachel and David to Chambers, all of whom will further enhance the strength and depth of Chambers' offering across our core areas."
