Core Issues Trust v Transport for London (2013)

Judge: Lang J

Citation: [2013] EWHC 651 (Admin)

Core Issues Trust, a Christian charity, challenged Transport for London’s decision to refuse to display a controversial advertisement about homosexuals on the side of London buses on freedom of expression grounds. The advertisement read: “Not Gay! Ex-Gay, Post-Gay and Proud. Get over it!”. Lang J found in favour of Transport for London, holding that its refusal to display the advertisement was “justified and proportionate in pursuit of the legitimate aim of protecting the rights of others”.
