Professor Kenneth Armstrong*

Kenneth Armstrong was elected to the Professorship of European Law at the University of Cambridge in 2013 as successor to Professor Sir Alan Dashwood KC. He was previously Professor of European Union Law at Queen Mary, University of London. He has held visiting fellowships at the European University Institute in Florence, New York University School of Law, Université libre de Bruxelles, Amsterdam University and the University of Edinburgh.

Kenneth acted as advisor to the Constitution and Finance Committee of the Scottish Parliament in its inquiry into the UK Internal Market. He has provided written and oral evidence to select committees of the House of Commons, House of Lords and the Welsh Senedd. He provided advice to the legal team headed by Aidan O’Neill KC that successfully challenged before the Scottish courts and the UK Supreme Court the UK Prime Minister’s prorogation of the UK Parliament. He is a regular contributor to the UK Constitutional Law Association’s blog on matters pertaining to constitutional law, devolution and post-Brexit regulatory divergence.

Kenneth is a professorial fellow in law at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge and is currently Vice-Master of the College. He is a Syndic of Cambridge University Press and Assessment and recently stepped down as Chair of the Press’ Academic Publishing Committee.
