The Solicitors Regulation Authority has brought disciplinary charges against Professor Philip Shiner arising out of his involvement with the Al-Sweady claimants, whose allegations of murder and torture of Iraqi civilians by the British Army were investigated by the Al-Sweady Inquiry. In a letter to the Tribunal dated 7 December 2016, Professor Shiner admitted a number of charges (some fully and some partially), and denied others. On 8 December 2016, the SRA published on its website a list of the charges and of Professor Shiner’s admissions.
The full hearing commenced on the 30th January 2017.
Andrew Tabachnik is instructed by Russell-Cooke LLP, on behalf of the Solicitors Regulation Authority who have brought the case against Mr Shiner.
