Alex Ruck Keene appointed Honorary Research Lecturer in the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies

Alex has been appointed as an Honorary Research Lecturer in the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies in the School of Law at the University of Manchester in recognition of his contribution to academic work in the field of mental health and mental capacity law.

Alex’s appointment follows a number of other milestones, including giving evidence to the House of Lords Select Committee on the MCA 2005 and his appointment to the Law Society’s Mental Health and Disability Committee. Together with Neil Allen, he is also working with the Essex Autonomy Project and the Ministry of Justice on an important project assessing the compatibility of the MCA 2005 with the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

Alex has also recently set up the Mental Capacity Law and Policy website to facilitate better understanding of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 amongst lawyers, policy-makers and professionals.
