What our barristers do

The requirement to uphold high professional standards and retain public confidence in regulated organisations has never been greater.

Our barristers have extensive experience advising and appearing on behalf of regulators and individuals involved in professional disciplinary proceedings across most industries, including healthcare, social care, law, education, accountancy, pharmaceuticals and financial services.

Who our barristers act for

Our clients include both regulators and individuals in cases involving regulatory issues, professional discipline and fitness to practice.

We have particular experience in education law matters, having appeared in many high-profile cases in both the private and public arenas.

In the healthcare sector, our barristers act for individuals and regulators, as well as the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care. Our barristers also sit as chairpersons of disciplinary tribunals in healthcare cases.

We are regularly instructed in matters relating to NHS regulation, such as admission to and removal from the Performers Lists and the grant and termination of NHS contracts.

The impact of the Care Standards Act 2000 upon the social care sector continues to be dramatic, and our barristers advise and represent those in the sector.

In the legal profession, we have advised and represented the Solicitors Regulation Authority and Legal Services Board as well as individual solicitors and barristers facing disciplinary proceedings.

Where our barristers act

Our barristers appear at disciplinary hearings and tribunals, judicial review challenges, before primary care trust panels, and at hearings and appeals in all courts from the High Court to the Privy Council.
