What our barristers do

Our barristers act for participants promoting and opposing hybrid bills, such as High Speed 2, and private bills. This includes drafting petitions and amendments, advising on evidence and negotiations and appearing before select committees. Our barristers also advise and appear in special parliamentary procedures.

Additionally, our barristers work on public bills, drafting bills and amendments for interested persons and parliamentarians. We advise on giving evidence to select committees and parliamentary inquiries, including standards investigations.

Who our barristers act for

We act for promoters and petitioners on hybrid and private bills. Petitioners include local authorities, statutory bodies, affected landowners, residents and interest groups. Our barristers also act for trade associations, business and interest groups, and parliamentarians in public bill processes.

Where our barristers act

We appear as advocates before select committees considering hybrid and private bills. We advise on other hearings. Our barristers have also given evidence in their professional capacities to parliamentary committees.
