Tidal Lagoon Swansea Bay (Generating Station) DCO

Christiaan Zwart acted for the Examining Authority (Panel) of the National Infrastructure Directorate in relation to this nationally significant tidal wave power station: Wales' first ever electricity-producing tidal lagoon. The infrastructure project is anticipated by the developer to kick start a world-leading industry and is likely to enable a better understanding of the tidal technology aswell as helping to establish the (financial) strike price for tidal generate electrical power. The proposal raises complex issues of the scope of DCO terms, the Planning Act 2008, its relation to Welsh devolved powers, and the jurisdictions of several administrative authorities at harbour, local, and national level.
